Your early twenties are the best time for your skin; you got past the awkward teenage acne-prone years to a new decade where your skin should be glowing. Towards the second half of your twenties, the skin still looks great, but you might start developing some fine lines and wrinkles.
Most people think that getting old starts around 40 to 50 years old; however, the natural aging process starts as early as 30 years old. Thinking of getting a cosmetic and antiaging treatment before 30 years old might sound extra, but it is more common than you think. We have asked a pioneer in the field of cosmetic enhancements, and one of the leading names in non-surgical cosmetic procedures in Israel Dr. Khaled Darawsha; what are the treatments and best practices that someone in their twenties should do to help maintain the youthful appearance of the skin throughout the years.
Dr. Khaled tells us how his clients start to ask for treatments in their early twenties. “My young clients are inspired by social media. They want to look like their filters and a lot of them come to my clinic asking for multiple kinds of cosmetic enhancements. They aim for perfection and they work really hard to preserve their looks as they are navigating through their 20s”. Clients in their twenties often ask for dermal fillers – an injectable treatment that uses hyaluronic acid to add volume to different areas of the face. Dr. Khaled tells us that he will frequently perform lips and cheek enhancements, as well as nonsurgical rhinoplasty, and tear trough treatment.
Dr. Khaled focuses on achieving harmony by looking at the patient’s features and recommending the enhancements that best complements the client’s face. “I always tell my patients what I think, and if I see that the treatment won’t get the patient anywhere, I’m not performing it. We always have a consultation before each treatment, and is there where we bring their expectations as close as possible to reality”.
What makes Dr. Khaled so good at his job is that he recommends the procedures that best suit their clients. People in their twenties tend to prefer more dramatic results, and there is when Dr. Khaled expertise shines through “Some clients in their early twenties tend to want to over-treat their features, and some doctors help this kind of clients to exaggerate their features. Patients forget fast about how they looked before being treated and that is the reason why they always ask to get more and more. Patients come to us seeking out a service but in these cases, our job as doctors is to stop them before starting to look fake”.
Dr. Khaled mentions how among the younger crowd of patients he also has many male clients and that every day the number increases “Males are getting interested in treatments too. These clients always ask for different kinds of treatments with dermal fillers like jawline, and jaw angle widening, nonsurgical rhinoplasty, tear trough treatment, and of course the Botox injections”.
Besides cosmetic enhancements, young patients are becoming more interested in antiaging treatments. For a generation obsessed with selfies and social media exposure, preventative antiaging is seen as a priority for the maintenance of their young looks. The early introduction of cosmetic treatments is the best way to delay changes that come with aging and ultimately minimizing them. Young people can start to notice these changes on their faces, especially on the upper part of the face, where fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear in the early twenties. Dr. Khaled explains to us that aging is triggered by external factors. “When I evaluate younger patients and notice some fine wrinkles I always like to explain that external factors play a huge role in the aging process”
Changes in young skin happen because of the action of external factors like sun exposure, pollution, smoking, and substance abuse (alcohol and drugs); all of these accelerate the aging process by directly affecting the cells of the skin. Sun exposure stimulates the production of molecules called free radicals, which attack the DNA of the cells accelerating the aging process, and increasing the risk of developing skin diseases, like cancer. Dr. Khaled always emphasizes the importance of avoiding any factor that damages the skin “The first tip I always give to them is to use sunscreen SPF 50 on daily basis UVA/UVB. I have noticed that through the years my clients are becoming more conscious of things that before were disregarding and I no longer have to sermonize them forever about sunscreen.”
The first step then to limit the changes of aging is protection from the sun and pollution, as well as limiting the intake of alcohol and smoking; however, cosmetic enhancements are the best way to prevent the changes that come with aging. One of the popular procedures among younger clients is Botox, a protein that relaxes the muscles on the upper part of the face responsible of the expression lines. Botox will help prevent the formation of forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Dr. Khaled uses his revolutionary technique of Baby Botox to treat young patients for natural preventative results. “Maintaining is better than fixing. So, starting earlier will give better results”
Aging is a complex process that starts from an early age.
